Tomorrow, 18th January, marks author A.A. Milne’s birthday so it’s officially Winnie the Pooh Day! What a fabulous excuse for a teddy bear’s picnic with lashings of honey on toast followed by endless stories about the adventures of Pooh and his pals.
Winnie the Pooh is without a doubt one of Wonderboy’s favourite storybook characters and he was lucky enough to meet the bear himself last year at Disney World. We also happened to bump into Tigger who was all too happy to engage in copious amounts of bouncing!
We love our Winnie the Pooh stories – they may have been written in a different time, with words which can seem old fashioned now but they’re full of adventure, encouragement and fun. What wonderful concepts to inspire little minds.
So, dear A.A. Milne, thank you for sharing your fanciful imagination with us. You’ve taught us all to embrace adventure, value our friends and to work together. Those kind of lessons are timeless.
If you’d like to celebrate Winnie the Pooh day with your little ones, then have a look at the Pinterest board I’ve put together with some ideas for activities.
What a lovely post! AND it drew my attention to the A.A. Milne anniversary which I didn’t know about- thanks for that. The Pinterest link is brilliant – LOADS of ideas and inspiration there! Winnie would make an excellent theme for a birthday party – and you’ve given us lots of ideas for Pooh craft and activities all in one place. Thanks, Lorna!
Ah fabulous, I didn’t know about this. Great excuse to read our Winnie the pooh books tomorrow! Happy Winnie the Pooh day
Enjoy yourselves Natalie!
Oh, I love Winnie the Pooh but I had no idea about Winnie the Pooh Day. How wonderful. Winnie the Pooh is completely timeless and the stories are so much fun. Great post. Hugs Mrs H xxxx
Thanks for stopping by Mrs H x
Oh my gosh…this is SO cute!!! I was always a big Eeyore fan. That mopey sadness was just irresistible.
Isn’t it, Ashley?! I loved Roo myself but Pooh bear is most definitely Wonderboy’s fave x
Tin Box Tot loves Tigger – mainly because she has a dressing gown that is a Tigger suit. So cute! There is something magical about the Pooh ‘franchise’ – simple fun in the great outdoors with friends. Classic! Thanks A.A. Milne!! #MummyMonday
Magical indeed! That dressing gown would come in handy at Halloween! x
I totally missed it being Winnie the Pooh Day!! Amelia only has one large heavy and old collection of Winnie the Pooh stories that I think she is still too small and young to appreciate so will be saving them for when she is bigger. Piglet was always my favourite character, amazing timeless and classic stories.
Thanks so much for linking up and hopefully see you again #MummyMonday
Thanks Alice! I’ve really enjoyed all the #MummyMonday posts so will definitely link up again x
Winnie the Pooh Day! Wow-I did not know that existed but somehow I believe it always should
My children always giggle at Tigger. #MummyMonday
I know Bek – I only found out this year so will pop it in my calendar for 2016 for sure x
such a lovely post
my mum is a huge winnie the pooh fan! I have one of those giant teddys. Corey was always obsessed with Tigger as a baby though. I love so many of the author’s famous quotes!
thankyou for joining in on #mummymonday – love Gemma (host) xo

Thanks Gemma! Have really enjoyed reading the #mummymonday posts so will remember it for another week x
What a lovely post! Did you know the bear Christopher Robin Milne called Winnie the Pooh looked nothing like the Disney one we see today? The illustrator of the original books used his own son’s teddy as a model for the drawings, and the red shirt was added a lot later.
Ok, now I sound like a Winnie the Pooh geek… actually, I’d be pretty pleased to be thought of as such!
Thanks for linking up with #WeekendBlogHop Hope you enjoyed Winnie the Pooh Day!
No shame in being a Winnie the Pooh geek my friend!! x
I totally didn’t know that and its the day after my birthday1
I need to dig out our pooh stories we only have a big heavy book which he’s not quite got the attention span for, yet can sit through a 90 minute Disney movie…
Yep, we know all about selective attention spans in this house!! Thanks for dropping by x
I didn’t realise we just missed Winnie the Pooh Day. My post yesterday was about reading Winnie the Pooh – seems I was a week too late!

Still January so I’m thinking it’s still seasonal!! Thanks for dropping by x
